The share of Bangladesh's export in the global apparel market will surpass 10% by 2025, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturer and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Faruque Hassan said on Saturday, 14 May 2022 at a press conference organised by International Apparel Forum (IAF), and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) in the capital.
Furthermore, he added that Bangladesh’s market share is expected to be 7.5% at the end of the current fiscal year 2021-22. Export for this FY year could reach $41 billion. In the same press briefing, Faruque Hassan and the secretary-general of IAF Matthijs Crietee announced that the 37th IAF World Fashion Convention would be held in Dhaka in November later this year.
The International Apparel Federation (IAF) will host the convention in collaboration with BGMEA and the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA).
Additionally, the “Made in Bangladesh Week” will be held concurrently in Dhaka from November 12-18.
Faruque Hassan expressed that the Bangladesh RMG industry has achieved a certain level of growth and it is now time for us to leapfrog to the next level of growth.
This convention could play a critical role in initiating greater collaboration with key actors in the supply chain. The “Made in Bangladesh Week” will provide a unique opportunity to showcase the impressive strides of Bangladesh’s RMG industry and its continuous strive to pursue excellence in business capabilities to strengthen its standing as a safe, sustainable, and competitive industry globally. The 37th IAF convention is being held in Bangladesh on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the IAF.
The speakers including brands, retailers, suppliers, industry leaders, and academics will shed light on the current and future business trends, challenges, and possible solutions, to make industry-wide efforts to create a better fashion industry for all.
