January Export Update

Bangladesh experienced second-highest export in January 2022. This comes at the heels of record export in December 2021. According to EPB total export for Jan 2022 is $4.85 billion, meanwhile $4.05 billion was the export target for this month. January export is 19.73% higher than the target export. At the same time last year, export stood at $3.43 billion. January total export grew more than 70% growth compared to the same time last year.

 

 

This month’s export was 41.13% higher when compared to last year's January export. A major segment of this export comes from apparel. January exports 84.21% comes from this sector. BGMEA data export data for apparel in January is $4.08 billion. Among this woven export is $1.97 billion with a growth rate of 40.95%. On the other hand, knit export is $$2.11 billion with a growth rate of 44.39%.

The next highest export category is home textile followed by agricultural products.
