Gildan Activewear Expanding to Large Scale Factory in Bangladesh

Canadian clothing brand Gildan Activewear is Expanding its Business in Bangladesh. They are planning to move forward with the plan to construct a large scale manufacturing unit in Bangladesh. The capacity of This unit will be 100% geared and dedicated to making fashion T-shirts.

Gildan began its Bangladesh journey in 2019. The manufacturer, GAB Ltd, is producing T-shirts on Dhaka's outskirts Baipail. Clothes that Gildan makes in Bangladesh go with the brand name Gildan Activewear.  The primary market for Gildan is North and South American countries. They are sourcing raw materials from local many local manufacturers. Further expansion will increase more local sourcing and increase jobs in the local market.

This decision from Gildan highlights the excellent export outlook maintained by the Bangladesh RMG industry. International brands are growing more confident in regard to business conditions in Bangladesh. 

According to BGMEA, knitwear-maker GAB Ltd is a member of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). Georges Sam Yu Sum is the managing director of the company in Bangladesh.        

The current production facility began to develop in 2019 and its full production capacity was capable of fetching $500 million in sales. 

Microtrends reported that in 2019 Gildan Activewear's annual revenue was $2.824 billion, however, leading to the twelve months ending September 30, 2021, its revenue was $2.828 billion, a 45.07% increase YoY.
