Bangladesh RMG Industry Committed to Sustaining Safety Momentum

Bangladesh's readymade garments industry is steadfast in maintaining safety momentum alongside developing capacity and increasing competitiveness in the current changing global business landscape.

Faruque Hassan made the remarks while addressing a seminar organized by GmbH on behalf of GIZ at Hotel Amari Dhaka on Wednesday (30 March) to brief BGMEA and BKMEA participating member factories on the Communication Component of the STILE project.

He mentioned that the industry has taken note of the past and made unprecedented progress in areas such as workplace safety, and environmental sustainability while keeping in line with changing demands of time and trends.

The project ‘STILE’ developed a pool of trainers from apparel, knitwear, and footwear associations to build factory capacity, and will continue the intervention until November 2023.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is implementing the programme.

Werner Lange, the cluster coordinator of the GIZ Bangladesh Textile Cluster, said he is confident that Bangladesh is on its way to a similar achievement “from victim to victory” with “Made in Bangladesh”.
